What does “bleed” mean?

A. When you print an image from your computer, there is a limited area of the paper that your particular printer can print cleanly on. (this varies from printer to printer) This produces a white border. When a print is said to be “full bleed” there is no border in the final product. In other words, the print continues to the edges. This is very common in products such as business cards, where full bleed is frequently desired.10% bleed would mean that roughly 10% of the image carries past the edges and would not be in the live print area.

A bleed refers to an image, color, or text that runs off the edge of the printed page. A bleed on a print job requires that the job be run on larger paper. Please allow 1/8 inch beyond the edge of your document on the edges that bleed. A job without a bleed will have margins.
