What does aroque mean?
Baroque refers to the characteristics of the style of artistic expression occurring in the late 17th and early 18th century. In general, the style involves the use of complex forms, extravagant ornamentation, and the juxtaposition of contrasting elements often conveying a sense of drama, movement, and tension.
AISSLINN: We call ourselves a Baroque Ensemble to show that we specialise in a certain period within the larger genre of classical music. We mostly play music from 1600-1750, although we certainly don’t limit ourselves to those dates.
