What does AICC and SCORM mean?
AICC and SCORM are acronyms used to refer to the leading industry standards for interaction between an online course and a Learning Management System (LMS). The Aviation Industry Computer Based Training Committee (AICC) standard dates to 1988, and has been used as a standard for Computer Based Training since that time. While it was created by the Aviation industry, it has been used across all industries. The Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a standard built upon the work of several organisations including AICC, IEEE, and others targeted directly at the web based training market. Both SCORM and AICC allow Learning Management Systems to support a diverse set of content, provided either by the Learning Management Systems provider or other vendors. Many LMS platforms support one or both of these standards, thereby making the inclusion of compliant courses virtually seamless.
