What continent is japan on?

0

Japan is actually on the continent of Asia since it is on the Asian continental shelf even though it is a group of islands off the coast. Island groups such as Hawaii are in the middle of the Ocean and are not on any continental shelf. P.S. as mentioned earlier Japan staddles the North American and Eurasian plates but also the Filipino plate.

Well, it’s usually considered being part of the Asian continent… but if you know anything about plate tectonics… it’s ACTUALLY straddling the Eurasian and North American plates… which is why there’s so many earthquakes there.

Japan is actually not situated on a continent but it is an island – the closest continent is Asia !

Japan is technically not on the continent of Asia. It’s an island off the east coast of Asia. A good analogy is Hawaii in the U.S. It’s an island state and not technically part of North America.
