Something we are running into is that some landlords want to check my credit as well as his. His credit is excellent, and he has 1) lived in the same apartment for 7 years; 2) worked for the same company for 7 years. However, my credit is not good, and I have a spotty work history. At the time that we got together, I was a full time student. Presently I have an unpaid student loan from a trade school, from about 5 years ago, which I can basically do nothing about until September (due to a lot of family obligations and such right now, I can neither maintain the necessary number of units to get a deferment, nor can I work to pay it off, nor do I qualify for the unemployment deferment – I’m not on unemployment) when I will be in a position to look for a job.
