What causes the screen to appear and ask for a username and password after an update has been run?

This message is a result of a security issue once an update is run. The update is some circumstances ignores the subscription rights when the option of use currently installed rights is selected. Re-running the update and selecting the option “use floppy disk to change subscription infobases”, forcibly makes the update copy across the correct subscriptions rights from the disk. The floppy disk itself should be in the drive of the machine where the update program is initiated from. This message can also occur if an out of date CD is being used to access the information. i.e. The database has been updated with the latest CD, but a previous months CD has been put in the Drive. Ensure that the correct CD is being used for the infobase.
