What can the process and final plan do to help economic development?
City actions promoting economic development can be related to a city’s traditional roles as regulator and public service provider, or they can be more entrepreneurial in nature. The plan will likely recommend policies related to all three of these roles. strengthenOKC, the economic development element of the plan, will assess the city’s strengths and weaknesses with regard to business attraction and retention, and recommend policies and programs to encourage job growth by making the city more attractive to companies. Some examples of initiatives to make the city more attractive could include infrastructure projects, land assembly, construction of new amenities (such as MAPS projects), and modification of existing regulations.
