What can CT scanning do?
CT scans are highly useful for detecting problems, examining injury, guiding biopsy needles and aiding in surgical preparation of almost all parts of the body. A wide array of problems can be identified using CT technology: • Bone, soft tissue and blood vessel damage/malformation • Tumors, cancer • Stroke, aneurysm, dissection, arteriovenous malformations, atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases, as well as proper functioning of stent implants • Infectious disease • Joint and musculoskeletal disorders • Enlarged brain cavities, sinus inflammation • Kidney and lung disorders/disease incl. pulmonary embolism • Spine problems, arthritis, herniated disk, bone density testing for osteoporosis • Problems in the lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract, colon, rectum • Injuries to the brain, heart, liver, spleen, appendix, or other internal organs.
