What are UCAS points?

0

The typical way to gain UCAS points are by studying for your A Levels in Years 12 and 13. Some people get points by doing courses at college, but the most common way is by doing your A Levels. In Year 12 you normally take 4 subjects, and at the end of the year this gives you your AS grades. In Year 13 most people ‘drop’ one of the subjects and continue with their other 3, meaning at the end of the year they have 3 full A Levels from Year 13 and one AS from Year 12. Here are what the grades are worth in UCAS points: If you get an A at A Level you get 120 UCAS points. B = 100 C = 80 D = 60 E = 40 If you get an A at AS (at the end of year 12) you get 60 UCAS points. B = 50 C = 40 D = 30 E = 20 Some Universities offer places to applicants on the basis of UCAS points. For example, a course at a University might ask for 280 points, meaning 2 Bs and a C, or even ACC. As long as the points add up to the required amount that’s fine (both of those add up to 280). Hope this has helped a bit, good
