What are the transport proposals?
Transport and accessibility issues are very important and are at the forefront of Imerys’ thinking with regard to its Clay Country Eco-town. The proposals include a range of sustainable transport proposals that aim to minimise both the need to travel and reduce reliance on the car for most types of journeys. These will not only benefit the new Eco-Town but also, the existing residents living in the Clay Country and St Austell. In addition, there will be some additional physical infrastructure to enable the new public transport provision and relieve the existing pressure. Considering the new homes and employment sites together with the existing transport needs of St Austell means the new developments can help improve transport across the area. • Existing bus services are to be upgraded to increase frequencies, improve the quality of the buses and to provide improved infrastructure, including ‘real-time information’ displays that say how long until the next bus. • A new Rapid Transit Bus
