What are the technical problems with TETRA?
TETRA is proving to be an ineffective system with a lot of problems e.g. – • Handsets have to be switched off near a hospital or ambulance because they interfere with medical equipment such as infusion pumps, cardiac monitors and ventilators. • The system gives poor support for converged voice and data services, and North Wales Police are already issuing officers with a different tablet PC system. • The system can also affect pacemakers, hearing aids, insulin pumps, car locking systems, TVs and burglar alarms. One of the reasons there are so many technical problems is that the system has not been trialled or tested before roll-out.
