• Newspaper recycling has gone up from 52.7% in 1995 to 74.5% today and we are now recycling almost 2 billion newspapers a year. This makes Australia one of the best newspaper recyclers in the world. • Back in 1995, toilet tissue made from recycled paper was poor quality and most consumers preferred to use something a little softer. Today, 8,000 tonnes of office paper waste is turned into “SAFE” toilet tissue each year and the softness and strength of recycled toilet tissue has improved considerably. • Only 11% of Australia’s office paper is currently recycled. Nearly 9 out of 10 sheets of office paper are being thrown away despite the fact that 68% of Australians told Roy Morgan that they want to recycle more paper at the office.
