All adults are required to wear seatbelts in moving vehicles. Children under 1 year must be in a rear-facing restraint seat in the back seat of the car. Children ages 1 to 5 and under 40 pounds must be in a child restraint seat. In Rio Rancho, all children under 12 must be in the back seat.
