What are the requirements of hosting a Foreign Exchange Student?
It is very easy to host an exchange student. I actually work to place the students. If you are interested in hosting you should ask your parents. There is an application to complete. With the company I work with, the students arrive in August and most stay the full school year and leave in June of 2010. We ask that the family provide a bed for the student, housing, and any meals eaten in the home. The student is to provide all their expense money for school, shopping, etc. The student also comes with their own insurance for medical expenses. I think it is an awesome experience. We have a young lady from Korea coming to our home this year. Last year we had a student from Germany. The families I’ve placed students with become very attached to the students and become lifelong friends with them. I’ve even had families travel overseas to visit students once they return home.
