What are the qualifications to be a GAL?
The qualifications for a GAL in a Child in Need of Aid case are set out in Child in Need of Aid Rule 11. The qualifications for a GAL in a child custody matter are set out in Civil Rule 90.7. The court rules are established by the Alaska Supreme Court. The court has not set out qualifications for GALs in other types of cases.
