What are the problems that retailers face?
The demand for temporary seasonal labour is likely to increase and so use of gangmasters will remain a necessity. Retailers share the concerns raised, but unfortunately the sector does not have the resources to act as a food chain policeman. It is crucial that each level in the supply chain work in co-operation with labour providers and the Government, to protect the rights of those employed by labour providers and prevent revenue fraud.
