What are the merits of western culture?
Western culture NOW or western culture (as opposed to culture of the mid-east and far east) in history? Please write again and say. It makes a difference in how you answer the question. OK – since you were in India when you posted the question: I’d say a mindset that looks to the future (Western culture) rather than so much to the past. The western nations are (most of the time) inventing new things: machines, computers, improvements to phones – like iPhone, Blackberry, cell phones that take photos, etc. On the personal side, western culture rewards such inventions (and patents) with money – patent licensing fees, sales of products, opportunities to expand or enter new business fields, etc.) A questionable good/bad value? young people choosing their own future spouses rather than arranged marriages, with heavy involvement from both sets of parents.
