What are the major differnces in the movie vs the book of “The Color Purple”?
When Alice Walker wrote the book she opened the pages and showed us what she had created. It turned out to be a very good book – Walker got the Pulitzer Prize for it. . When Steven Spielberg directed the film it came across as the product of someone stumbling over themselves in search of recognition while simultaneously trying to eradicate the book’s homosexual elements. Thankfully the acting carried the weight – the directing certainly didn’t. Not a single Academy Award was given to the film.
