What are the links between Extended Schools and Childrens Centres?

0

There are potentially strong links between extended schools and children’s centres. Children’s Centres provide holistic services including access to integrated early learning and care, health and family support for children under 5 and their families Up to 47 children’s centres are expected to be established across Cheshire by 2010. The majority of the Centres will be co-located with primary schools which offer opportunities to provide joined up services for children 0-11 in one place. This will particularly benefit those parents who have a pre school child and a child in primary school. The Government is encouraging Local Authorities to link up funding for children’s centres with the funding for extended schools services in order to maximise the benefits from the resources invested.
