What are the limit values for mobile phones using the German GSM networks D-Netz and E-Netz?
The mobile phones’ antennas emit high-frequency energy – most of the time in the immediate vicinity of the head. The maximum of the energy absorption in the head is limited in order to avoid health risks. It should not exceed the partial body limit of the “specific absorption rate” (SAR) of 2 Watts per kilogram mass (2 W/kg, averaged over 10 grams of tissue) – this is a recommended by the German Commission on Radiological Protection. The SAR values of modern mobile phones are well below this limit. Normally the manufacturers report the SAR value of each phone in the instruction manual. You will find a list of the SAR values of the currently available mobile phones at the online-service of BfS. For reasons of precaution BfS recommends to use mobile phones which expose the users’ heads to fields as low as possible, (see “Precaution: The precautionary principle and precautionary measures in the area of high-frequency fields and low-frequency fields”).The BfS information leaflets (only in G
