What are the differences between first wave technology, second wave technology and third wave technology?
My understanding is that 1st wave technology is one that sets up the basic structure needed to support further progress – for example railroads, roads, and communication are needed to get minerals out, people in, etc. It would also include the ability to build durable buildings – bricks, cement making. 2nd wave technology is the advanced making of tools, but still working by hand and hand fitting parts together.
