A “typical” home computer is generally enough to successfully complete an on-line course. A connection to the Internet is a necessity and is the responsibility of the student. Word Processing software will be required to complete and submit electronic copies of assignments. We recommend Microsoft Word. Additionally, specific software may be required for some courses. Consult the course details page for information on required software for an individual course. A standard email account is recommended, although free email accounts such as Hotmail or Yahoo accounts will suffice.

The course requires 64 hours of work. Because the course is entirely online, you will need to have high-speed Internet access. You will also need a video player, an audio player, a PDF reader on your computer. These are all available for free via download. We recommend Windows Media Player for video files, available here and Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDFs. Due to the multi-media presentation of this course, high-speed Internet access is the only way to ensure accurate and timely delivery of streaming lectures and course materials. The final exam relies on the secure Respondus Browser. For the final exam, you will need to use: A Microsoft Windows-based computer. The secure browser is not currently configured for Macintosh systems. Windows Explorer version 5.5 or later A hard-wired connection to the Internet. The program will not allow you to take the exam using a wireless connection.
