What are the advantages of cork?
• Performance – Torlys cork is resistant to scuffs and stains therefore it can be used in high traffic areas with ease. Although it is a natural product it is also great for wet areas (topical sealer must be applied). Because cork is 50% air, it has a “spring-like” quality, this helps the floor to come back to its original state after being dented. • Hypoallergenic – Cork is a natural product and therefore resists mould and bacteria and does not trap dust or dirt. • Warmth and insulation – Because of the high air content cork acts as a natural insulator; it is warm and comfortable underfoot and reduces sound travel between levels. • Cork is a natural fire retardant. It s used by NASA as an insulator on space shuttles and unmanned rockets. A ¼ thick layer of cork, for example, is used on the Delta II rocket the Mars Rover II to prevent rocket fuel from becoming too hot during engine ignition.
