What are the accommodations like?
Denali Backcountry Lodge has 38 cozy cedar cabins at the lodge. Each cabin has two beds (most have two comfortable double beds, a few have a king bed and a couch/folding bed) and they are booked on a first-come first-serve basis. All have electricity, flush toilets, running hot water, a sink and shower – surprising luxuries in the middle of the wilderness! Linens are provided and all rooms, lodge facilities, and vehicles are smoke-free.
We have two types of accommodations: Our Core houses and home stay. The Core houses are comfortable houses within Whistler. They are all fully furnished right up to the linens and towels. The Core houses are based on two riders per room. Riders are responsible for their own meals at the Core houses. The home stay accommodations are private and shared rooms within the homes of cool, local Whistler families. It’s a great Canadian experience. All meals are included at the home stays. Riders under 18 will stay with a home stay for supervision purposes. Riders under 18 may stay at a Core house with parental consent.
In Ecuador, we use charming accommodations that are locally owned and characteristic of the area. They can best be compared to small, family run bed and breakfasts rather than international chain hotels. All of our Ecuadorian hotels have private baths, hot water and clean, comfortable rooms. They are located within walking distance of the town center and the reception generally speaks English. Historic haciendas dot the Ecuadorian countryside and provide comfortable accommodations complete with walking or horseback riding trails that wind through nearby orchards or forests. Those traveling on a tourist superior cruise stay at a comfortable three star hotel. First class cruises stay at a four star hotel. Luxury cruises and cruise ships stay at a five star hotel. We personally inspect the rooms and amenities of all potential hotels and lodges in each tour location and select only those that meet our rigorous standards for cleanliness, comfort, convenient location, safety, customer service and ambiance.
Dogs are rotated between two enclosures – each a 40m indoor area and a covered outdoor area of a similar size. The indoor areas are climate controlled. There is a strip of land around these enclosures where a quarantined dog can be let out to run around. There is also a very modern cattery where cats stay. All enclosures are cleaned once a day.
