Accommodations at Fireflies Ashram are welcoming, relaxed, and comfortable. Students can choose to stay in spacious rooms with other students, or they can stay in a single room. Each room has beds (already outfitted with sheets and blankets), desks, bookshelves, closets, and a private bathroom. Towels and extra bed sheets are provided. In addition to the bedrooms, Fireflies offers students the use of their meditation halls, walking paths, and library. There is also a health center on-site, as well as easy access to off-campus health services. The ashram staff provides you with fresh hot meals three times a day, as well as snacks and tea throughout the day. Each meal is served buffet style, with plenty of variety. The ashram staff cooks primarily south Indian cuisine, however on occasion they will cook some “western” food such as pasta. There is a computer lab and several telephones available for use at Fireflies. This allows for easy contacts with family and friends at home. Also, stud

Our Eco-lodges are small, wooden houses, as they are standard here in the region and used by local people. They are rustic mountain huts and protect against sun, rain and wind, but don’t have the luxury you may be used to, like smooth walls, ceiling plates, etc. When using the mosquito nets which you will find in each lodge, you wan’t miss anything.

It depends. In most cases, the instructor will be living in a shared apartment with other teachers. All teachers are assured of their own private bedroom. The director will provide basic furniture. You may have to share the kitchen and bathroom in the apartment. • Will my housing be far from my job? Most jobs will be within walking distance of your accommodation. If not, it will be either a short bus or subway ride away. Most institutes have already established teacher housing very near the institutes. • What can I expect my housing situation to be like? All teachers are assured of their own private bedroom, although you may have an apartment mate who will also have her or his own room. This apartment mate will usually be another English teacher from the US/Canada though sometimes he or she will be a Japanese English teacher. You may have to share the kitchen and bathroom in the apartment. The housing will be clean and modern by Japanese standards. Keep in mind that the amount of livin

Accommodations are first class. But there are different types of places to stay. Wildlife Lodge: Wildlife Lodges are permanent facilities and resemble hotels in the bush. The Lodges are designed to accommodate large numbers of people – around 200. The food is usually very good. But if you want an intimate experience, then you should stay at a Luxury Tented Lodge/Camp or a Mobile Classic Tented Camp. Luxury Tented Lodge/Camp: We prefer these, as they’re not crowded. They are also a lot smaller than the Lodges, and much more intimate. As a result, they are more expensive. You stay in very large luxurious walk-in tents, with en-suite bathrooms. The owners put a lot of effort into making the tents very warm and comfortable, with double beds, mosquito netting, side tables, comfy chairs, and African artifacts. There is a central dining area, usually designed in a traditional luxurious African style, and the food is excellent. Mobile Classic Tented Camp: These are our favorites. Why? Because

The house is a beautiful, nine-bedroom house on historic Monument Avenue in Richmond’s Fan District. Each family that stays with us is provided a private bedroom and access to five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms that are shared among our guests. Other common areas such as the kitchen, living room, dining room and playroom are also shared enabling families to build friendships and draw support from others who also have a child in the hospital. Bedroom sizes vary. Some rooms have a double bed, where others have a queen size bed along with a trundle in order to accommodate larger families. We do our best to match the room size to the size of the family. Our policy is that one family gets one room. For larger families, if and only if we have the space, they may be split up into more than one room with the understanding that if we need the room for a new family, folks must move back into the original room. We will make sure this is agreed to before a second room is given. All of our
