The ABC’s of Public Education is North Carolina’s comprehensive school improvement effort. The result of a 1995 state law requiring sweeping education reforms and reorganization, the ABC’s has focused public schools in three areas: strong accountability with an emphasis on high educational standards, teaching the basics, and maximum local control.
