What are tanning beds?
Tanning beds were introduced to North America by German scientist Friedrich Wolff in 1978 and began to become popular in the mid-1980s. Since then, tanning beds have been a common way to tan without having to spend hours in the outside sun. Sunlight is composed of electromagnetic radiation of varying wavelengths, ranging from the long-wavelength infrared light to the short-wavelength ultraviolet.
