What are Pixels and Voxels?

A. Pixels is short for “Pixel elements”, the basic component of any 2D (bitmap) digital image. Voxels are “Volumetric pixels”, the basic component for any 3D image. During the CT to 3D conversion, pixels from the 2D DICOM images (the slices) are compiled into voxels in order to represent the model in three dimensions and be able to perform movements, cross-sections, etc. as a whole object.
