What are my chances of getting selected?
This is the first time we have offered this specific REU, therefore, we cannot yet be certain as to how many applications we will receive. Other REU programs on campus have typically received about 150 applications. Getting selected for the REU is not entirely based upon your GPA. We consider other criteria, such as your commitment to a career in science, how well your interests match those of our faculty, and whether this would be an opportunity you could not get at your home institution.
There is no way of knowing how many applications will be received for any given cycle, nor what the quality of those applications will be. There is no way to know how many PNNL mentors will have research tasks and funding for appointees. One thing is certain, if you don’t apply, you certainly won’t get selected!
