New, matriculated students who apply for housing by the Lottery deadline and are willing to live in any graduate residence are guaranteed housing. Single students who have limited housing choices may not be assigned housing because space in each individual residence is limited. In the 2005-06 Lottery, 97% of the new students who applied for Single Student Housing by the Lottery deadline are assigned, 95% of the new students who applied for Couple without Children and 100% of the Student with Children Housing are assigned. (Those not assigned have limited residence choices, many only listed off campus options.) Of the continuing students who apply by the Lottery deadline, 87% of those who apply for Single Student Housing are assigned, 95% of those who apply for Couple without Children Housing are assigned, and 92% of those who apply for Student with Children Housing are assigned. Overall, approximately 92% of the students who apply for housing are assigned in the Lottery.
