What are lipids in blood?
They are fatty acids, triglycerides and cholesterol, carried through your body by blood circulation, performing essential body functions. However, excessive use of saturated fats and even worse trans-fats (hydrogenated oils, margarine, shortening), can cause atherosclerosis which increases the risk of heart disease or stroke. Also these fats can lead to free radicals or oxidants forming in your body. Antioxidant drinks and medications are advertised all over TV, radio and other media. Oxidants in order to stabilize, start binding to whats around them resulting in aggressive and chaotic movement damaging cell membranes and other cellular tissue. This can lead to the aforementioned heart disease, stroke and ulcer.
