City staff, including Transit and Neighborhood Development Services staff, collaborated to produce an environmental report submitted to the Federal Transit Administration in 2001. The study factored in the new building at the site and the queing of buses. The operational noise impact of the bus transfer facility was found to be “Generally Not Significant”, meaning that CTS buses already operate at that location at the same frequency of service and number of units as will be operated with the transfer facility in place. No new bus service above current levels for that location, is currently planned. At present, buses proceeding west on Water Street from 10th have to yield/stop at 7th Street, and accelerate towards 5th and Water. The architectural firm of Wallace Roberts and Todd is working to incorporate environmentally friendly features into the design of the facility, which would include features that will mitigate noise.
