What are DMA PIDs?

DMA is an acronym meaning Direct Memory Access. It refers to special PIDs created by EFILive that obtain their value directly from the PCM’s operating memory. As tuners began tuning vehicles using EFILive, they began asking for more information than was available via generic and manufacturer enhanced PIDs. EFILive pioneered the use of DMA PIDs to extract critical runtime data from the PCM that would be otherwise unavailable. DMA PIDs can be identified by their _DMA suffix.
