What are crabs?

0

The other kinds of crabs are all members of Phylum Arthropoda, Subphlyum Crustacea, Class Malacostraca, and Order Decapoda. They are usually covered by a hard shell (exoskeleton) and possess ten legs, the first two of which are modified into pinchers (chelae). Crabs are distributed between two infraorders, the Brachyura and the Anomura. The Brachyura are the true crabs and includes most of the crabs we eat and most of the crabs you might sea on the seashore. If you turn the crab over, you will see that the brachyuran crabs all have symmetrical abdomens. The Anomurans include king crabs, hermit crabs, and a variety of other crabs that all possess an asymmetrical abdomen.
