What are Chloramines?
Chloramines, a combination of chlorine and ammonia, are a type of disinfectant used to kill potentially harmful bacteria in the water. Most municipalities in Canada use free chlorine to treat their water supply. In comparison to chlorine, chloramines form fewer chemicals in water, improve the smell and odor of water, and last longer to prevent bacterial growth in water. Chloramine specific filter uses catalytic “Centaur” carbon in place of coconut shell carbon and will effectively remove chloramines as well as free chlorine from water.
