What age can u start lunging a youngster ??
I prefer to wait till they are a year to lunge. But you can lunge them at any time. The thing to remember is that they are young, and it can be hard on them if are lunged in really small circle (like if they were on the end of a lead rope), and if they are lunged for a long time. I would only recommend lunging them for maximum 10 minutes. For the riding part, you can start getting on and riding around 2 years of age. The thing to remember with this as well (and vets will tell you the same thing), its not that you are riding him its HOW you are riding him. When you are just starting to ride him, you should only spend 10-15 minutes on them because they are still growing. You will NOT hurt their growth or their bones (vets will tell you the same thing) if you ride them for short intervals of time.
