Traditionally, a user has logged into Statit’s web-based products by connecting to a manual login page and supplying a username and password. Once these credentials were verified, the user was logged into the system and presented with their default view. With release 3.5, Statit Performance Indicator & Management Dashboard (piMD) introduced the ability to automatically authenticate users using the “Integrated Windows Authentication” feature of Internet Explorer. Users who wish to login automatically would bookmark a separate login page which when loaded, handles authentication without any direct input from the user. Instead, the web browser will supply the credentials of the Windows user currently logged into the workstation from which the application has been accessed. At this point, the Statit application will first verify that the supplied credentials belong to a domain that is authorized to supply these credentials.
