We know the Amish are reluctant to participate in public forums; how are their concerns going to be considered?
The Project Team recognizes that speaking out at public meetings is not always a comfortable way for members of the Old Order Communities (Amish and Mennonites) to voice their concerns. At the same time, members of these communities have said that they prefer to speak for themselves, rather than have outsiders represent their views and interests. Therefore, the Project Team is working closely with members of the Old Order Communities to find ways to promote their involvement and input. During the Corridor Study there were several meetings conducted specifically within the Old Order Communities and Study Team members met with a group of Amish Bishops.
