Was IBB wrong?
Was IBB really wrong in his submissions in terms of what accrued to his government and that of the immediate past under Olusegun Obasanjo’s watchful eyes? Was he really wrong in terms of his position on corruption and the institutionalization of same if we take into account the mind-boggling revelations of corruption since the expiration of the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo in a government that was anti-corruption inclined? With oil price at an all time high of seventy dollars per barrel during OBJ, does he have excuse for the dismal performance he recorded in eight solid years? My answer to these questions is a capital NO. IBB was right in his comparison, no matter the yardsticks and parameters. For a leader like IBB to achieve that much despite all the opposition to military rule, all the protestations and demonstrations, is to really appreciate his quintessential qualities as a pan-Nigeria leader who understands the concept of nation-building.
