Should women be working?

Too offset that image, you could have a picture of Rosie the Riveter from the late 40’s. I think it’s a personal decision, which many women cannot choose. I work with a woman who was back to work 10 weeks after having her child. My wife and I decided she would stay home with the kids. She has been a homemaker for the past 10 years full time. I think the entire family benefits from it. The kids on average do better in school, etc. I don’t think it’s sexist. I think it’s a reminder that there are more important things in life than money. Unfortunately many women have to work full time to make ends meet.

Well, just like not all men what to do the exact same thing with their lives, so not all women want to do the exact same things with their’s. Some women find fulfillment in being a CEO of a huge company or a doctor and some women fine fulfillment in staying home taking care of their families. I don’t thinkk it has to do with the treat of sexual harassment or stress, it mostly has to do with what she place value on. In our culture it’s very much expected from men to work hard and make a lot of money and being successful. However it’s very much expected that women work hard, be successful, make a lot of money AND take care of the kids, clean the house, take care of her husband while looking wonderful all the time. Women are basically expected to have 2 full time jobs – at work and as a home maker. I personally know 2 women who left very profitable positions to stay home and take care of the kids, and I also know of one guy who’s doing that while his wife is finishing her masters degree a

I honestly think that this idea of the woman being the man’s servant is just as insulting to men as it is to women. I would never want to be with someone who I felt was intellectually or physically inferior to me, and I don’t need a servant; I can take off my own shoes if I want. Women should not “serve” the men, and a real man should not need someone to serve him.

I don’t think a woman ironing clothes, doing laundry, and watching whiny kids all day is going to create a peaceful, serene, or pleasant home environment. A woman automatically becomes a second-class citizen merely by staying home all day while the man is the one who brings in the money. He man is able to choose where he wants to spend his money, the man rules the house, and once again we are back into problems that women have been trying to overcome for centuries. The job would suck, really. Women deserve challenges, income, knowledge, education, etc….

My dad is a disable military veteran with 14 years of putting his life on the line in service of his country, the end result of which was 2 strokes and a heart attack before I was even 3 years old…So my mom went to work, my dad came home, raised myself and 2 younger siblings, and collects a disability check as reward for his prior service. But when he tells people (like nurses at the hospital when he’s having chest pains and may be dying) that he’s a disabled vet and stays home the vast majority of them give him dirty looks and mumble something about bums. THAT’s why most men wouldnt want it the other way around, because it’s considered perfectly natural for a woman to want to nurture and raise her children, or run a Fortune 500 company, women can do anything. But when a man wants to spend time with his kids (even if his health leaves him no other choice but to stay home because working would likely kill him) he’s considered a pussy and a lowlife bum who’s just leeching off his wife.
