Should postdoctoral appointment dates be tied to the July 1 fiscal year?
No. Even though raises for postdoctoral associates are given on July 1, their appointments do not need to coincide with this date. Instead, all postdoctoral appointments should run for a full calendar year. For example, if the start date for a postdoctoral appointment is February 1, 2008, the end date of that appointment should be January 31, 2009.
