Should I follow Atkins Diet to lose weight?
-Theresa Quinn It is not a good idea to follow any strict diet to lose weight or for any other reason. Though, some of the basic ideas of the Atkin Diet are good. You need to find out what works for you, personally. Everyone is different, has different needs, a different metabolism, genes, etc. I will outline here the basics of losing weight that pertain to everyone: Cut out all junk food. Junk food is high in sugar and simple carbohydrates, which are the main dietary causes of excessive weight. Alcohol too is fattening. Another big cause of weight gain is a suppressed thyroid. Excess estrogen suppresses the thyroid. This comes from birth control pills, HRT, soy food, commercial meat, poultry and dairy products (and even organic chicken raised on soy and corn).
