Should Druids have more rights?
Because English heritage are a corrupt and disgusting institution, they have stuck up a ugly electric fence around Stonehenge aboput 200-300 metres in diameter so the people cant get to the stones, they would like everyone to be dragged away and beaten up like they did back in the 1980’s, I have nothing except contempt for them, the people ought to rise up and take the site back off them again. The Druids should have access to the stones, but it should not be forgotten that they belong to the people of England. English Heritage have done a shitty job of looking after it.
English Heritage have granted managed open access to Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice. That means everyone has free access and no one – Druids included – has the right to restrict anyone else’s freedom of access. The Druids are not the sole inheritors of England’s pagan heritage and indeed the history of the Druid revival has been a story of factional division, so they can’t even agree among themselves. It is right that the site be open to all occasionally, but the priority has to be to safeguard the site for future generations. It should be the property of no one group and, seeing as pagans can’t agree (and no reason why they should), the secular State is best equipped to shoulder the responsibility.
There is controversy as to if the Druids have a claim to Stonehenge… see http://www.anima.demon.co.
