The “back-up” battery tube is just the innovated concept to store an additional battery within the laser body only for back-up uses. It becomes mostly helpful when the battery availability is much limited to the people, esp. backpacking people or search and rescue members. The laser stores the additional battery itself which doesnot connect to the electricity. When the battery that powers the Ti laser is running out, you can just have it replaced with this back-up battery. Very helpful in urgent conditions. It’s more recommendable when the flashlights also use the CR123A/16340 battery.
