(Right click “My Computer” , left click on “Properties” and click on “Device Manager”) In Device Manager expand the category called “PCMCIA Socket”. If the word Cardbus appears under that category, the USB Card is compatible. If not, it will not work. Another requirement is that the PCI steering must be enabled. To check, go to back to Device Manager and expand the category called “System Devices” then open the icon under that category called “PCI Bus”. In the PCI Bus properties, click on “PCI steering” and make sure that the IRQ routing status says “IRQ Steering Enabled”. If not, add a check mark next to “USE IRQ Steering” and press ok. If the IRQ Steering cannot be enabled, contact the manufacturer of your laptop to enable it.
