Manual Dialing. My telephone doesn t support auto-dialing (or it isn t working) and I m having trouble getting modem to dial and/or connect?
A. If your telephone system does not recognize the analog DTMF (or Touchtone tones) used by the modem to dial and you are able to modify the communications software dialing or initialization strings to not look for dial tone (by adding X1 or X3 ), you can use Blind Dialing to complete the connection. The procedure for Blind Dialing is as follows: 1. Make sure everything is connected properly, and the LEVEL switch is on the proper setting. 2. Leave the telephone handset on the cradle (or on-hook) 3. Press the connect or dial button on the communications software. The modem will go off-hook and dial the number. When the modem goes off-hook the DTE will switch from Voice Mode to Data Mode, and your telephone handset will be electronically disconnected. You should not hear anything further through the telephone handset until the modem goes on-hook and the DTE returns to Voice Mode. 4. After the modem finishes dialing, lift the telephone handset out of its cradle and obtain a dial tone. On
