Just how many recordings are there, anyway?
This is a quick overview — for a complete discography, see the The Highway Star reference • Mark I • Shades of Deep Purple (1968) (CD) • The Book of Taliesyn (1968) (CD) • Deep Purple (1969) (CD) The original US CD reissues of these were very dodgy; also, the earlier European CD versions of these three albums could be found packaged together in a boxed set entitled “Originals”. However, there have since been remastered versions of the albums which include bonus tracks released in Europe, and these are the ones to look for.
