Liver toxicity has been associated with European kava products, however, there has not been any toxicity with domestic kava extracts. In Europe, kava is extracted with solvents such as acetone and hexane that have proven liver toxicity. And, many of the European kava preparations have 150mg of kavalactones or more per tablet or capsule. Oasis products are formulated with kava extracted only with water and alcohol, to eliminate any potentially toxic residues remaining in the herbal extract. Also, Oasis products have very small amounts of kavalactones. For instance, the kava extract that Oasis uses is 30% kavalactones. In the Anti-Stress product, there is 50mg of kava extract, or 15mg kavalactones, per tablet. And in S-4, our sleep product, there is 7mg kava extract, or 2.1mg of kavalactones, per capsule. For these reasons, we feel that the amounts of kava in our products are very safe, and would not cause any liver toxicity.
