Isn the Ashland Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District already on the National Register of Historic Places?
7) Answer: No. However, the Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District is listed “locally” as a Historic District. The Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District is one of four unique areas recognized by the City of Ashland and designated a “local historic interest area”. The remaining three locally designated Historic Districts include the Ashland Railroad District, Ashland Downtown Commercial District and the Ashland Skidmore Academy District. By being a National Register Historic District the area is recognized as unique to not only Ashland, but also the State of Oregon and the United States of America. It should be noted the City of Ashland is in the process of nominating all four locally recognized historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places. The Siskiyou-Hargadine Historic District is the fourth district on the Citys task list. The first National Register Historic District was the Ashland Railroad District which was approved in May of 1999. The Downtown Commercial District
