Is WRAS broadcasting on-line?
Currently, no. But we hope to be doing so within the next year. We recently acquired the equipment to run an automated format which will assist us in getting online; however, we are still trying to figure out how to comply with FCC regulations dealing with broadcasting online. There was an agreement in May, 2003, to allow non-commercial stations to stream their on-air signal at a reasonable cost. What the agreement did not change was the parts of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that have some crazy rules, like not playing more than 3 songs from the same CD in a 3 hour period, not announcing song titles ahead of time, and other restrictions which would prohibit us from streaming most of our specialty shows. We’re still looking at ways to deal with the restrictions.
